Timothy Payton """"T.P."""" Chapman Sr. died April 27, 2009 in his Gulfport home, at the age of 93. Mr. Chapman was born in Mississippi City on April 3, 1916. He was raised on the Coast and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII.
He moved to Jackson, MS in 1956 where he worked as an inspector with FHA. After retirement he returned to his beloved Gulf Coast. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Gulfport, where he was in the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans-Sam Davis Camp, NARFE and The Lion's Club. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening and loved animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. Chapman and Daisy Parker Chapman; sisters, Bessie Sellars and Daisy Mae Barksdale.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ramona Williams Chapman; five children, Dixie Huber (Wayne), Biloxi, Tim P. Chapman Jr. (Alice), Philadelphia, MS, Mona C. Howell, Biloxi, Rachel Dermon (Clayton), Ghent, Kentucky and Ruthanne McDaniel (Robert), Saucier; seven grandchildren, who knew him as """"Fa-Fa,"""" Laura & John Soper, Tim P. Chapman III, Eve Bostick, Rachel Chapman, Cody & Connor Dermon; and six great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Cody for his dedication, devotion and loving care for Fa-Fa.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Restoration of Beauvoir.
A Graveside Service with military honors, will be Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 11:00, Biloxi National Cemetery. George Thatcher and Tom Sawyer will deliver the eulogy. The RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi in charge of arrangements.
