Thomas R. “Tommy” Allen, age 74, of Long Beach, passed away peacefully from this earthly home to his eternal heavenly home on Saturday, October 15, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.
Tommy was born on November 2, 1947, to Robert M. and Doris Watts Allen who predeceased him as well as his youngest son, Brandon. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathy; his son, Joey (Susan); his granddaughters, Marissa Allen and Scarlett Bellot; his siblings, Connie Young, Ricky (Karen) Allen, Bobby (Brenda) Allen, Barbara Jean Necaise, and Linda Necaise; along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Tommy graduated from Long Beach High School in 1966 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a BT3 (snipe) aboard the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Returning home, he began a career as a heavy equipment operator before his retirement as an assistant road manager with Harrison County. He loved coaching Little League Baseball, hunting and camping with his boys, running beagles with his buddies, watching his granddaughters play softball and he was an avid Ole Miss Rebel fan!
Words cannot express our gratitude to Dr. Allison Wall for her loving, prayerful, exemplary care for which we will always be grateful along with Anne Smits, PA, and Dr. Rod Krentel for all of his care and kindness. Thank you to Dr. Rizk, Dr. Weeks, the staff at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport where great care was received so many times, Kare in Home Hospice and Dr. Lynn Leatherwood for his pre cancer care of many years, and especially for all the many prayers and support from our family and friends which has carried us through it all.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Long Beach.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 3:30 pm – 5 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 5 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
