Thomas E. Conerly, age 91, of Long Beach, passed away on July 7, 2022, in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ramona L. Conerly Barrentine; his parents, Emmett R. Conerly and Myrtle L. Reeves Conerly; and 2 brothers, J.C. Conerly, and Neville C. Conerly.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Betty F. Conerly; his children, Linda C. Havers (Hollis M.), Cindy C. Mitchell (Mike), and Mark Conerly; 5 grandchildren, Hollie H. Creel, Lane C. Havers, Heath Mitchell, Amber M. Broome, and Shelby C. Collins; his great-grandchildren, Chase Creel, Cody Creel, Levi Mitchell, Aiden Mitchell, Taylor Barnes, Trace Havers, Kristopher Havers, and Kelli Havers; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was a native of McComb, MS and a long time resident of Long Beach. He was a graduate of McComb High School and attended Hinds Junior College. Mr. Conerly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and he later retired from Illinois Central Railroad. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Long Beach and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He was very devoted to his family and his country. Mr. Conerly loved life and spending time with his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Long Beach Building Fund, 300 N Cleveland Ave., Long Beach, MS 39560.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 9:30 - 11 am at the First Baptist Church of Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the church. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
