Thomas Edward Herrin, 76, of Gulfport, passed away at Memorial Hospital surrounded by loving family on Thursday, February 4, 2010 after a lengthy illness.
He was born December 23, 1933 in Sumrall, MS. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport and member of the Adult 4 Sunday School Class. He served in the US Air Force and retired from the Gulfport VA Hospital after working 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor and Lula Herrin; brothers, Elbert, Everett, and Lewy Herrin; sisters Eunice White, Alma Clemens, and Alice Herrin.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Reba; daughters, Linda (Dennis) Avery of Waxahachie, TX, and Teresa (Charles) Sisson of Biloxi; son, Michael Herrin of Biloxi; brothers, William Owen and James Herrin; sisters, Doris (Irley) Oxford and Noba Kate McLemore; eight grandchildren, Denise Avery, Tanya Rodriguez, Kimberly Avery, Brittany Hutchinson, Ashlee and Summer Herrin, Nathaniel and Rebecca Sisson; and four great grandchildren, Joaquin and Roberto Rodriguez, Mikaela Barnett, and Dakota Hadley; and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held Sunday, February 7, 2010 from 5 to 8 pm for family and friends at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. The funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 2 pm on Monday, February 8, 2010. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507-1922.
