Thomas """"Tennessee"""" E. Compton, age 81 and a resident of Saucier, died on Saturday, July 31, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mr. Compton was born in Nashville, TN on July 23, 1929. He attended MGCCC-Perkinston Campus where he played football before joining the military. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years and then retired after 20 years of service with the United States Postal Service. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Compton is preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Laura Ellen Compton; 2 brothers, 2 sisters and an infant son.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Lorette Rouse Compton; his children, Ellen Guidry, Patricia Ohlin, Karen Nitkiewicz, Brenda Compton, and Thomas L. Compton; 10 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Poplar Head Cemetery in Saucier.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Michael Memorial Baptist Church, Building Fund, 15053 John Clark Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
