Theo Smith died at her home in Gulfport on February 7, 2007 after a long illness.
She was a long time resident of Gulfport. Born in Luverne, MN to Robert and Edith (Fugate) Leicher, she was the fifth of six children. Mrs. Smith relocated to the Gulfport area originally in 1966 with her second husband, Louis Bickford (deceased) and family. A retired Civil Service worker, she worked for many years at Keesler AFB Defense Disposal Office and Naval Construction Battalion Gulfport Supply Department.
Theo was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Gulfport for many years. She held several elected positions as well as serving on committees assisting with the mission of the church.
She also was a past member of the Gulfport Chapter of the Loyal Order of Moose proudly earning her College of Regent's Degree.
A multi-talented person, Theo was known for her artistic and creative abilities. Her family and friends all treasure the many beautiful paintings, afghans, and crafts that she made with her own special love and care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include her husband, Willie S. """"Bill"""" Smith, Gulfport, and her children, Gerald Schmuck and his wife Linda, Gulfport, Charlene Franco, Glendale, AZ, Wanda Johnson and her husband Gary, Colorado Springs, CO, Paul Bickford, Glendale, AZ, and Holly Watts, Gulfport, one sister, Dorothea Goembel, Magnolia, MN, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the Riemann family's GULF COAST FUNERAL HOME, Three Rivers Road Chapel, Gulfport. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
