Terry Lee Burkhart, a beloved mechanic and passionate car enthusiast, passed away on February 11, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 66. Born on November 28, 1958, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Terry dedicated his life to both his craft and his family, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and love.
Throughout his career as a mechanic, Terry was known for his skillful hands and keen attention to detail. His passion for automobiles extended beyond the garage, as he was an avid drag racing fan and had the pleasure of owning his own car for a time, which brought him great joy.
Terry was a devoted father to his three daughters, Kerry Smith, Debra Burkhart, and Melissa Parish, who were his pride and joy. He cherished the moments spent with them, instilling in them the values of determination and perseverance he held dear. In addition to his daughters, he is survived by his sister, Joy Nerius, who held a special place in his heart, his friend Debbie Blount; 13 grandchildren, 1/2 brothers, Paul and Scott Burkhart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Terry now reunites with his parents, Jerry and Audrey Burkhart, as well as his brothers, Jerry Dean and Perry Dale Burkhart, and brother in law, Timothy Nerius who preceded him in death. Together, they will be fondly remembered as they continue to influence and inspire those they have left behind.
In celebrating Terry’s life, we remember a man who was driven by his passions and deeply loved by his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the lives he touched through his kindness and dedication.
The family will hold a memorial service at Finley Cemetery at 2 PM Sunday, February 23rd.
