Syril Saunders

Syril Sidney Saunders, Jr., 69, of Gulfport, went to be with his Lord Jesus on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Biloxi VA Hospital.
Mr. Saunders was preceded in death by his father, Syril Sidney Saunders, Sr.; his mother, Willa Mae Lewis; and brothers, Gary Saunders and Robert Saunders.
Mr. Saunders leaves to cherish his loving memories his loving children, daughter, Nickole Saunders, Sons, Sidney Saunders III and Solomon Saunders, all of Tampa FL.; Son, Nicholas Brothern of Gulfport, MS; his brother, Stanley (Martha) Saunders Sr.; his sister, Dale Saunders of Bahamas; his grandchildren, Kiyani Breaux, Solomon Saunders, Jr., Christian Saunders and Michael Saunders; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, family and friends.
Mr. Saunders was a resident of Gulfport, MS. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1966 and attended Morris County Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Saunders was retired from the Carpenter's Union in Madison, NJ and he was a member of People Mission Baptist Church in Gulfport. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, and eating seafood. He was an adamant chess player and was a Black Belt in Karate.
Friends are invited to visit with the Saunders' family on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at People Mission Baptist Church, 5101 Arkansas Ave. in Gulfport. The Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Pastor Lillie Nichols.
Interment with military honors will be held at the National Cemetery in Biloxi at 12:30 p.m.
