On Friday, August 12, 2022, Sunny Gayle Burrus Ross, loving wife, and mother of three children and one stepson, passed away at home at the age of 64.
Sunny was born November 2, 1957, in Gary, IN to Wesley “Bud” Burrus & Janice Cuellar. She was a homemaker for the past 19 years but previously loved working various jobs. On October 12, 2002, she married the love of her life Russell Lynn Ross in Saucier, MS where they chose to live out their lives together.
Sunny had a passion for God and Family. She always wanted to be surrounded by her family and friends especially on Sunday afternoons with many games and food. She also helped many family members through difficult times. She enjoyed the beach very much as it was one of the reasons for moving to the MS Gulf Coast. She enjoyed bird watching as well as people watching. She was also an avid music lover and would have jam sessions out of no where just to be silly and dance. She loved to travel. She was known for her infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit. Her favorite sayings were “Get over it”, and “143” which means I love you! Her greatest accomplishments in her life were being a Wife, a Mom, Grandma and GG.
Sunny was preceded in death by her parents, Bud & Janice; Two brothers, Jim & Jerry Burrus; and three Sisters, Deb Williams, Linda Vails & Bonnie Burrus. She is survived by her loving husband, Russell; Three Children, Robert (Tracy) Cuellar Jr. of Saucier, MS, Edward (Joy) Cuellar of Gulfport, MS, and Misty (George) Ray of Saucier, MS. and Stepson, Shane Ross of Saucier, MS; Three sisters, Nancy, Rita & Laurie (Paul); Five brothers, Ronnie (Linda), Terry (Taffy), Albert (Deb), Willie (Brenda) and Ken (Debra); Eight Grandchildren, Pomeroy (Mariah) Ray of McHenry, MS, Michael (Emily) Dyer of Saucier, Robert Perkins of Columbus, MS, Anthony Ray of Fort Campbell, KY, Nicholas Dyer of Gulfport, MS., Brandon Cuellar of Gulfport, MS, Daylinn Cuellar of Gulfport, MS, and Destinee Stump-Ray of Saucier, MS; Three Great-Grandchildren, Wyatt, Emma and Walker; with Two twin great-granddaughters Reagan and Remington to arrive soon; and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.
