Sue F. Hughes

Sue Frances Hedrick Hughes, age 73, died on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at her home in Gulfport following a lengthy illness.
She was born on May 20, 1937, and attended the Okmulgee, Oklahoma Schools, graduating from OHS in 1955.
She was a homemaker for many years and in later life worked for the Department of Defense for twenty years in Gulfport and the Phillipine Islands, retiring in 1995, where she began her real life's work- doting on her grandkids and great-grandkids. Sue was a Navy wife who was proud of her service alongside her husband Charlie, who retired from the U.S. Navy as a CPO.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hughes; a grandson, Joshua Peterson; her father and mother, Clyde and Polly Pearl; five brothers, Kennedy, Kenneth, Jerry, Jim, and Ted, and a sister, Judy.
Sue is survived by her two daughters Kathy Peterson and Debra Campbell of Gulfport, who were at her side; her son, Patrick Hughes, residing in San Francisco, CA; her sisters, Joyce Fisher and husband Dale of Yelm, WA; Nancy Dodge and husband Russ of Natchez; Polly Owings of Okmulgee; her brothers, Joe Hedrick and wife Charlene of Arlington, TX and Larry Hedrick of Orlando, FL; her grandchildren, Charli Napier, Jamie Poor, and Jessica Box and 5 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at 12:30pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
