SKC Florencio S. Quinquinio, USN, Ret., age 79, of Gulfport, died March 22, 2012 at home peacefully with his family by his side.
Florencio was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, born Oct. 27th, 1932 in Olongopo City, Philippines. He was a devoted son, husband, and father, who decided to follow in his father's footsteps and join the U.S. Navy in 1954. He served 23 years in the USN and retired in 1977 at Key West Naval Air Station, FL with the rank of SKC. During his years of service he also served as a Drug Abuse Counselor in addition to his duties. After retiring, he then moved and settled his family here in Gulfport, MS in 1978 and has made the Gulf Coast his home ever since. He earned a second retirement working as a welder in Gulfport for 11 years. After retiring a second time, he continued as an active member of his community and church with his beloved wife, Rosalina S. Quinquinio, at his side. In 2001, Florencio decided to continue his education and attended MGCCC- JD and completed the HRAC and HVAC technology programs, earning his Associates in Applied Science Degree at the age of 72. Florencio was truly a man of honor, perseverance, generosity, and faith; a man that would never turn his back on anyone. He will be greatly missed by many, because to Florencio, there was never a stranger he came across, but only a friend to be made.
