Sidney Schepens, age 70, of Gulfport, died Friday, June 25, 2010 in Gulfport.
Mr. Schepens was born in Long Beach and remained a lifelong resident of the coast. He served in the MS Army National Guard with the 890th Engineering Group and he worked for Jay Jay Chevrolet and Gulf Motor Parts before owning and operating Quality Auto Supply over 30 years. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Gunn Council in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Theresa Dauro Schepens, a brother, Leo Schepens, and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Waldrop and Lena Parvik.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Schepens, a son, Dr. Steven (Dr. Amy) Schepens, a daughter, Stephanie Schepens, 3 brothers, Salvy (Connie) Schepens, Henry Schepens, and Joe (Sue) Schepens, 4 sisters, Theresa (Emmett) Niolet, Mary Levens, Angelina Hubbard, and Helen May, 4 grandchildren, Shelby, Austin, Ryan, and Delaney Schepens, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 29, 2010 from 6 - 9pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where friends may visit from 9:30 - 10:30. Interment will be in Wolf River Cemetery.
