Sidney Gonzales

Sidney Joseph Gonzales, age 80, of Pass Christian, MS, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in Gulfport.

Mr. Gonzales was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Irene Gonzales; his daughter, Sharon Darlene Weaver; his sister, Patricia Sikkink; and brother-in-law, Gary Sikkink.

He is survived by his daughter, Tanya Helveston; granddaughter, Magan Gilbert and her husband, Vicente; his brothers, Leonard Gonzales and his wife, Marcia, Kenneth Gonzales and his wife, Patricia, Donnie Gonzales and his wife, Jenny, and Terry Gonzales and his wife, Gail; and his puppy, Colette.

Mr. Gonzales was a native of Louisiana and a long-time resident of Mississippi.  He served in the U. S. Navy as an E-6 during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service.  He then worked at Dupont and retired after 20 years. He had many interests and hobbies, including bingo, bowling, hunting, fishing, and cooking like he was still feeding the entire Navy.

He went by many names including Sidney, Sonny and Speedy. Remember him by one or remember him by all, but never forget the love he had for you all.

Visitation and services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS 39560.  Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Gonzales will be laid to rest at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
