Shirley L. Triggs, age 86 of Gulfport, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
She attended Marion Center High School in Pennsylvania then joined the Navy and served during the Korean Conflict.
Shirley was preceded in death by her stepfather, George Repine; her mother, Gertrude Repine; and her sister, Leafy May McMillan.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Estus A. Triggs; her children, George (Shelia) Triggs, Cindy (Steve) Nobles, David (Joni) Triggs, and Lisa (Robert) Bozek; her sister, Georgie Moore; her 8 grandchildren, Geoffrey (Amber) Triggs, Michael Triggs, Emily Nobles, Steven (Savannah) Nobles, Jr., Ashley (Chuck) Whitehead, Joshua Hughes, Carrie Herron, and Rachael Bozek; and 7 great grandchildren.
Shirley was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the New Orleans Saints. She enjoyed serving, lunching, and playing dominoes with the seniors at Bayou View Baptist Church, where she was a member for about 50 years. She helped teach Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and worked on the kitchen committee, serving food and sharing God's word.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother, and great grandmother.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cowan, Ashley Wesson, and the Hospice Staff at the Biloxi VA for their dedication and allowing our mother to retain her dignity during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bayou View Baptist Church Building Fund, 4709 Chamberlain Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39507.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS, with a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 AM until the service. Interment will be held at 12:30 PM at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.
