Shirley Sue (Spears) Jordan passed away peacefully in her home in Kiln, MS on September 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 75 years old.
We know she was welcomed home into the arms of our Savior by longtime best friend Sheila Walley and her mother Marie Walley, her granddaughter Kamryn Jones, her son Jeremy Rolison, and her mother Anna Spears. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Shirley was born in Gulfport, MS on August 31, 1949, to Alva and Anna Spears of Long Beach. She was a loving sibling to Warren (Rhonda) Spears of Long Beach and Rhonda (Rocky) Ladnier of Long Beach. She graduated from Long Beach High School in 1967. She attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and began as a bank teller shortly thereafter. Known as “Mrs. Shirley” to the customers at Hancock Bank (Long Beach branch) where she worked for over 30+ years she mentored many young lives as they began their careers.
In addition, she raised 4 children: Brian (Connie) Rolison of Long Beach, Jeremy Rolison of Long Beach, Anthony (Holly) Jordan of Copperas Cove, TX and Amy (James) Usey of Gulfport.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Glenn Jordan, who always provided comfort and support as they forged a life together. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren: Mackenzie, Justin, Espyn, Riley and Emma always looked forward to seeing her or getting a message from her. She was also a treasured aunt to Cassie Payne of Gulfport and Jenny (Brooke) Lopez of Hattiesburg. Whether meticulously scrutinizing over the details of a perfect gift or attending her grandchildren's extracurricular activities, Shirley dedicated most of her efforts to providing a nurturing atmosphere for her family. Her long, detailed text messages will be missed by family and friends as well as her patience in lending her ear on all matters. Her faith in the Lord sustained her through many years of illness with grace and dignity. She had been a long time member of First Baptist Church in Long Beach and had currently been virtually attending West Gulfport Baptist Church in Gulfport.
She was an ardent supporter of many charitable organizations, most notably the Make-A-Wish foundation and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The family would like to thank everyone for the many heartfelt condolences and prayers on our behalf. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 25 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. A short service in chapel will take place beginning at 6:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks any memorial contributions be made to the Make-A-Wish foundation (the Mississippi chapter).
A Tribute
God knows just what we need in our lives to show us the way.
Smiling through pain, she warmed our hearts;
Working, though weary, she gave us strength.
Always humble, always dedicated, she inspired us;
Her spirit, always willing, moved us.
Gone too soon but leaving her presence to fill our emptiness.
We love and honor you.
