Sheila Virginia Ivy (Aunnie) was gently released into God’s loving arms on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the age of 80.
Sheila was born in Birmingham, AL on October 22, 1942, the daughter of James Fred Poe and Virginia Poe. She married Robert E. Ivy, her high school sweetheart, on August 26, 1960. Together they spent their 62 years of marriage raising their 2 daughters, grandchildren, and great grands at their home in Gulfport.
Being the daughter of a military father, Sheila attended many different schools during her childhood. Her family settled in Gulfport where she attended and graduated Gulfport High School where she was a majorette in the band and was elected “Most Beautiful” her senior year. Sheila was truly a beautiful person inside and out.
Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ivy, the love of her life. She is survived by her sister, Sharon (Wayne) Cruthirds; her two daughters, Sindy (Herbie) Holder and Michele (Jim) Cotten. Her love of family grew as she was blessed with four grandchildren, Jordan (Bo) Bell, Jonathan (Nicole) Holder, Justin Holder, Cameron (Sydni) Cotten; and four great grandchildren, Ryleigh Grace, Brantley, Hudson, and Lindsey Kate.
Sheila was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that loved to spend time with her family. She loved taking long rides in the car and catching up with friends on Facebook. Her favorite place to visit was the Great Smoky Mountains of TN where she vacationed often with her family.
Friends are invited to join the family for the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2023, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS, with the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. Sheila will be laid to rest at Biloxi National Cemetery following the service.
