Sheila Anne Hardie Weisner, age 72, of Pass Christian, MS passed away on February 16, 2022 with her only child, Wendy Hassinger, by her side in her final moments as she transitioned peacefully into her next life.
Sheila was born in New Orleans on April 30, 1949. She attended St. Francis Xavier, Mercy Academy and University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse in New Orleans and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast until she retired. In her younger years, she practiced ballet at Lelia Haller Ballet Studio. After she moved to Bay St. Louis, Sheila opened and ran the Rainbow Theater Coffee House for about 4 years. She lived in Pass Christian when Hurricane Katrina hit, and lost everything, but continued to work as a nurse immediately after the hurricane.
Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, Wanda Burrow Hardie Rutledge and Patrick Coleman Hardie, Sr. of New Orleans.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Charles Steven Weisner; her daughter, Wendy Steele Hassinger (Michael); her brother, Patrick (Rick) C. Hardie, Jr. (Lisa); her sisters, Mary Hardie Yip (Wally) and Annette Hardie Andrus (Terry; her grandchildren, Kirsten Pierce Hassinger and Peyton Claire Hassinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sheila was a free spirit and enjoyed jogging, loved art and loved to paint. She loved spoiling her granddaughters, Kirsten and Peyton who called her Sweet-Sweet, and her numerous animals. She had a deep desire to help people.
Sheila had many friends from New Orleans and from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She most enjoyed family gatherings on holidays and vacations, and spending time with friends. Sheila will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held in the near future for family and close friends.
