Shan "Snowball" Stuart Snowden, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born on November 3, 1956, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Shan was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Tisdale Snowden; his father, Earl LaRue Snowden; his brother, Alan LaRue Snowden; his sisters, Dixie Whitehead and Dawn Breland; and his daughter-in-law, Emily Snowden. Each of these individuals held a cherished place in his heart, and their memories will be honored as part of his legacy.
As a devoted father and grandfather, Shan cherished his time with his sons, Chris Snowden and Taylor Snowden; his grandchildren, Mattie Snowden, Emma Snowden, and Ryleigh Snowden. His playful spirit and passion for life will undoubtedly live on in the memories of those he loved dearly.
In addition to his immediate family, Shan is survived by two sisters, Shawn Sims (David) and Terry May, along with nephews Shannon Chapman, Sam Whitehead, and Casey Whitehead, and niece Jamie Fredrickson. He shared a special bond with each of them, offering love, guidance, and support throughout their lives.
Shan's early education was rooted in his local community, as he graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Perkinston Campus) before earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Shan work for 30 years with the United States Postal Service before retiring.
Shan was a man of many interests. He found joy in capturing the beauty of sunrises and sunsets through photography, as well as in the thrill of fishing. His keen eye for detail was also evident in his enjoyment of estate sales, working puzzles, and playing games with family and friends. He was of the Baptist faith.
As we remember Shan Stuart Snowden, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family and friends. His presence will be profoundly missed.
