Shadrach Barnett

October 20, 1943 — June 20, 2021

Pass Christian

Shadrach Wesley Barnett, born on October 20, 1943 in Butler, GA went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 20, 2021. He was 77 years old and a resident of Pass Christian, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Elisha Barnett & Alma Dora Barnett; and his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia Barnett.

After 20 years of infertility, Shad and Patricia were blessed with two sons, truly a miracle from God.

He is survived by his sons, Richard Barnett (Amberley), and Robert Barnett (Shaina); his grandchildren, Dillon, Brooklyn, Bradley, Aidan and Abigail; and his sisters, Mary Thomas and Alma Dora Barnett.

He was very proud of his sons and loved his grandchildren very dearly. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him; he touched the life of everyone he met.

Brother Barnett spent his life living for the Lord and teaching the word of God to everyone he knew. It was his passion to teach people about Jesus and the Bible. When he wasn't reading the word or praying, he spent time ministering to everyone who crossed his path. This was truly his life mission since the day he accepted the Lord in his heart.

Brother Barnett began preaching at Driftwood Nursing Home in the 1970's, along with his wife Patricia, who played the piano and sang worship. This was one of his main ministries, but any time the opportunity was available, he taught at numerous churches and groups.

Brother Barnett had a jail ministry at one time, and would regularly spend time going to the hospital to pray for anyone in need. He was very involved and close with the First United Pentecostal Church family in Waveland, MS for most of his life.

Shad worked as an independent contractor, through his company Barnett Welding and Fabrication aka SPR Enterprises at Gulf Coast Prestress for over 30 years. This was another one of his ministries; he knew God led him to work there so he could reach the lives of his coworkers.

Brother Barnett was a Navy/Seabee Vietnam War Veteran. This is not a part of his life he liked to talk about very often, but we are proud that he served his country during such a difficult time. He was the 119th soldier to check in at the Seabee base in Gulfport, MS after the base opened. He also engineered and helped fabricate the first Seabee statue on the coast along with numerous other structures for the base.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Long Beach, with a visitation from 9:30 AM until the service. Interment will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach.
