Scotty Rester Rosetti, age 81, a lifelong resident of Gulfport, MS, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport surrounded by his loving family.
Scotty was welcomed into heaven by his parents Oscar Benjamin Rosetti “Big Scotty” and Hazel Marie Loftin “Shay”, along with his brother Jerry J. Rosetti.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Denise Minnon Rosetti; his daughters Ashley Rosetti Smith (Richard), Raegan Rosetti (Matthew), Lindsey Rosetti Gamble (Kevin), and Aaron Rosetti; his grandchildren Dr. Emily Smith, Richard Mills Smith, Emma Reid Gamble, Beasley Gamble, Charlotte Gamble, and Sullivan Gamble; his nephew Dr. Jason Rosetti, and niece Jordyn Rosetti O’Mara; his beloved feline companion Dakota; and a large, loving extended family.
Scotty attended Gulfport High School and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He earned a Juris Doctorate at the University of Mississippi and practiced law for many years. Oxford held a special place in his heart. He was a die-hard Ole Miss Fan, and regularly heard the phrase “Hotty Toddy Scotty!”. He spent summers during college working in various National Parks “out west” and loved revisiting the western mountain ranges many times. He enjoyed traveling throughout North America and Europe over many decades and surrounded himself with beautiful pictures he had taken while on his journeys. His family history became a passion later in life; he spent a lot of time in Italy delving into his ancestry. He was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport for over 30 years.
The family would like to thank Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, especially Encompass Rehab, the Intensive Care Unit, Dr. Amery Creighton, Dr. Shwan Jalal, and their staffs for the compassionate care they provided Scotty in his final days.
In remembrance of Scotty’s love of animals, the family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Humane Society of South Mississippi.
A visitation will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport, MS, from 11am – 12:00pm on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, followed by a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 12pm.
