Sarah Alice McDanal Roberts, 95, traded her earthly home for her mansion in heaven on Thursday, February 21, 2008.
Mrs. Roberts was born on October 17, 1912, in Leeds, Alabama, to John Rufus and Sarah Catherine Dorrough McDanal. She moved to the Gulf Coast in her late teens and fell in love with it. She always considered this her true home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace Roberts, two sons, Robert Absalom Davenport and Douglas McDanal """"Curley"""" Roberts, two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, her parents, nine brothers and seven sisters.
Mrs. Roberts left a large legacy; surviving daughters include Roberta DuBose of Grand Junction CO; Laneeta Cruthirds of Latimer Community, Irene Delancey of Vancleave, Margaret Klaver of Carthage, and Maureen Davis of College Station, TX; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister who will miss her greatly.
Graveside services will be Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., at Magnolia Cemetery, River Road, Vancleave, MS.
A short visitation will be held at the cemetery from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
