Sarah Elizabeth “Jackie” Berry went to be with her Lord on April 29, 2024.
Jackie was born January 29, 1931, in Alamo, Georgia to Neal Thomas Clark and Sarah Elizabeth Arenvia Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, seven brothers, four sisters and several nieces and nephews.
After finishing high school, Jackie graduated from Southern Business University in Atlanta, GA. While in Atlanta, she met her beloved husband Charles Henry Berry to whom she enjoyed a loving marriage of 55 years. Jackie and Charles moved to the Gulf Coast in 1955 where he started his 35-year career with Procter and Gamble. Jackie loved the Lord and was a very committed and active member of First Baptist Church Gulfport. She taught Sunday School classes and served on many committees. She also dedicated a lot of her time to her community and was a founding member of The Gulfport Civic League, The Gulfport Junior Women’s Club, several bridge clubs, and women’s bible study groups. Jackie’s family was paramount to her, and in addition to her church and community leadership roles, she served as a leader to her, son and daughter’s Scout Troops and all their school and numerous outside activities.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Berry; and granddaughter, Sarah Kathryn Meinzinger.
She is survived by her children, Charles Rick Berry (Ramona), Kathryn E. McCool (Jim), Pamela K. Meinzinger (Rodger); Grandchildren, Lauren Parker (Crosby), Dr. Olivia Hightower (John), Max McCool (Kimi), Clark McCool, Michael McCool (Tori), Andrew Meinzinger, Alex Meinzinger; and 10 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church Gulfport Prayer Garden, 12190 Hwy 605, Gulfport, MS.
Services will be held Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, with a visitation beginning at 10:00am and a funeral service to start at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Mausoleum.
