Sandra Kaye Harris Stewart

Sandra Kaye Harris Stewart, a much loved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at home with her family at age 51 on Monday, April 28, 2014, after a long battle with brain cancer.
She was preceded in death by her father William B Harris, her aunt Mable ""Mame"" Mollere, her sister Phyllis C. Necaise, her aunts Nora Brailey, and Virginia Holliman, and her son, Justin K. Cauley.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Charles E. Stewart, her daughters Savannah L. Stewart and Victoria N. Stewart, her mother Mary W. Harris, her sister Judy Miller, brothers Leonard Harris, Dr. Keith Harris and, her nieces Diedra Ford, Mary Miller and her daughter Jordan Miller, Lillian Harris, and Sarah Harris, her nephews Bennie Necaise Jr., Jeffrey Necaise, Buddy Miller, Andrew Harris, and Christopher Harris, her granddaughter Makenzie R. Cauley and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Sandra grew up in Gulfport, and went to school at Mississippi City Elementary (located at the site now known as Lynn Meadows Discovery Center), East Gulfport Jr. High, and Gulfport High School, respectively. She married Timothy Cauley and in 1981 gave birth to her son Justin. Sandra married Chuck Stewart in 1990. Sandra was working toward her degree when a stroke and the early symptoms of brain cancer side-tracked her pursuits. She then gave birth to Savannah in 1991 and Victoria in 1996. In 2002, Sandra became grandmother with the birth of Justin's daughter, Makenzie. Stripped of the ability to develop her mind, Sandra continued to focus on developing her heart. Sandra loved the Lord, and praised him for the extra years she was afforded with her family and friends. She loved to enlighten everyone's day with a brilliant smile, an open ear, and a warm heart. Her charming wit in the face of adversity was impeccable and endeared her to all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center on Thursday, May 8th, 2014. Visitation is at 5:00 p.m., service at 6:00 p.m., followed by a reception. Celebrate the life and remember the love she had for everyone.
The family requests that flowers and/or memorial contributions be sent to Lynn Meadows Discovery Center.
