Samuel J. ""Sammy"" Cuevas, Sr., age 64, of Kiln, passed away on February 28, 2011, in Gulfport.
Mr. Cuevas graduated from Hancock North Central in 1964. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dedeaux Community, Knights of Columbus, and Southern Musicians Association. He was the founder of Sammy Cuevas and the Entertainers and was employed with Ingalls Shipbuilding.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleanath Barney Cuevas and Myrtle Cuevas; and his brother, Baby Cuevas.
Sammy is survived by his children, Sammy Cuevas, Jr. and his wife Christi of Kiln, and Samantha Hawley and her husband Skyler of Rio, WI; and his grandchildren, Kodi Cuevas, Colton Cuevas, Nicholas Cuevas, Matthew Cuevas, Daphne Hawley, Lexi Hawley, Joey Hawley, and Faye Hawley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Rd., Pass Christian., with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church, Dedeaux Community, with visitation at the church one hour prior to Mass. Burial will follow at Standard Sandhill Cemetery, Pass Christian.
