Samuel Ellis Carlyle, age 72, of Gulfport, died Friday, January 15, 2010 in Gulfport.
Mr. Carlyle was a native of Lawrenceville, Illinois and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1974. He retired as a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He later retired from U.S. Geological Survey at Stennis. He loved gardening and was a fan of the Saints and the Braves.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Bill Carlyle; his parents, Marshall and Ruth Carlyle; and his sister, Wanda Lyden.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mitsuko Carlyle of Gulfport; daughter, Linda Carlyle McLeod and husband, Bill, and their daughters, Melissa and Michelle McLeod, all of Saucier; daughter-in-law, Lorrie Carlyle Powell and her children, SSgt. William Lee Carlyle Jr. and wife, Renee of Seattle, WA, Christie Carlyle of Flora, MS and Kimberly Carlyle of Hattiesburg, MS; and his sister, Carolyn Watts and husband, Goat of Illinois.
Visitation will be held from 6pm-8pm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11820 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport, Service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
