Samuel Douglas Borries

Ocean Springs

  Samuel Douglas “Dougie” Borries, age 60, a native of Biloxi, MS., and resident of Ocean Springs, MS., passed away on June 18, 2023.

  He is a St. Martin High School Graduate, who earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern Mississippi and his master’s degree from William Carey College.  He is the owner of Dynamic Outdoors, Borries Marine Construction, and was the Assistant Baseball Coach, as well as the Head Softball Coach at MS Gulf Coast Jr. College.  

  In 1981 he was the St. Martin Baseball MVP and went on to play for the All-South Team.  He was awarded athletic scholarships that included, MS Gulf Coast Jr. College, USM, Ole Miss, and holds sixty-two world, national and state records in hunting and fishing.

  As one would imagine, some of his favorite things to do in his spare time were photographing wildlife, hunting, fishing, being a Professional Outfitter, TV Host, and inventing and being the patent owner for multiple hunting and fishing products.

  Dougie is survived by his loving mother, Glenda Seymour Borries, his father, James Edward Borries, Jr. (Rhonda); his son, Douglas James Borries; his grandchildren, Greyson Douglas Borries and Kaysie Rae Borries; his sister, Angela Borries Renner and her husband Greg; and his nephew and niece, Grant Renner and Chloe Renner; a host of relatives, and dear friends.

  A visitation for friends and family will be held at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd. on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service is held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel.
