Samuel Bennett

Samuel R. ""Sam"" Bennett, 88, of Pass Christian passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Gulfport.
Sam was born November 9, 1921, in Kiln, MS. He retired from the United States Army, after 20 years of service, and became a self-employed building contractor. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of DeLisle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel M. Bennett and Ollie Cameron Bennett; his first wife, Marci Bennett; his second wife, Joyce Bennett; two brothers, Harris Bennett and Jim Bennett; two step sons, Richard Ellis and Jheri Ellis; and his son-in-law Pete Rice.
Survivors include his son, Art (Glenda) Bennett; his daughter, Yvonne Rice; his stepdaughter, Berinda (Floyd) Logan; his brothers, Louis Bennett and Britt Bennett; his sister, Ruby Bentz; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service for family and friends will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, and a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at The First Baptist Church of DeLisle on Saturday, August 14, 2010.
Burial will follow at Alphonse Malley Cemetery, Fenton Community.
