Ruth Thomas

August 3, 1918 — December 27, 2005

Ruth Nadine Thomas, 87, of Long Beach, MS went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on August 3, 1918 to the late Ralph Lee and Alma (Yenna) Miller. She and her husband moved to Long Beach, MS in 1974. As a member of New Hope Baptist Church she was the teacher of The T.E.L. (Timothy, Eunice, Lois) Sunday School Class, church pianist, president of the New Hoper's group and an active participant in church visitation to shut-ins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother, Franklin Miller, her younger brother, Brooks Miller, her younger sister, Jane Miller Wagner, and her son, Robert W. Thomas.
Her smile and her childlike delight in life will remain with all who knew her. You could always see the little girl in her eyes. It is this memory that will sustain her husband, Mahlon R. Thomas of Smithville, OK; her children, Kitty and Glenn Deitrick of Biloxi, MS, David and Evelyn Thomas of Smithville, OK, and JoAnn and Jerry Reynolds of Gulfport, MS. There are 20 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren to remember her fondly.
Because her desire was for her earthly remains to be donated to medical science, a Memorial Service will be held for her on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church on Landon Road in Gulfport. A gathering will follow services in the Fellowship Hall of the church where a meal will be prepared.
An online guestbook may be viewed and signed at www.gulfcoastfh.com.
