Ruth Melton, age 95, of Yazoo City, MS, passed away on December 6, 2010 in Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Melton; her parents, Sebron and Bertha Files; and her brothers and sisters, Ed Files, Ralph Files, Rock Files, Marcus Files, Lavada Davis, and Hilda Blankenship.
She is survived by her sister, Frances Riemann of Gulfport; her brother in law, Bill Davis, of Columbus, MS; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving caretakers, Andy and Sheila Bridges and their children, Will Bridges (Kristin), Tiffany Bridges, and Mallory Bridges, all of Yazoo City.
She was a lifelong member of Center Ridge Baptist Church and former owner of Melton Grocery. Known for her delicious caramel cake, she enjoyed baking for family and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Center Ridge Baptist Church, Yazoo City, where family and friends may visit from 11:30 PM until service time. Burial will follow at Center Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
