Russell Amis Rape died May 14 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents Adele and Cy Rape; and brother, Raymond Raye.
He is survived by his son Bradley Sisson Raye (Rhonda); step-son, James Bryan Caldwell (Kellee); and a special friend, Lou Moore and her family.
After graduation from Gulfport High School in 1956, Russell joined the U.S. Navy where he served two years active duty and four years in the reserves. As a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, he was a choir member during the early years of the church.
An accomplished mechanic, Russell enjoyed rebuilding antique cars. In later years he became an avid race car enthusiast who received numerous awards as a driver. Russell also took great joy in building and flying model airplanes.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the National Cemetery located at the VA in Biloxi. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to The Nourishing Place, 630 Tennessee Street, Gulfport, MS 39506.
