Ruben P. (Papa) Sanchez, age 56, of Long Beach, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2008 in Biloxi, MS.
He was born in Los Angeles, California on July 25, 1951, and was a resident of Long Beach since 1992. Mr. Sanchez was retired and was of the Catholic faith. He served heroically in the Vietnam War with the 1st Cavalry Division and was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Air Medal and two Bronze Star Medals, all for Valor.
Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by his wife Lynn (DeDe) Sanchez. Survivors include, his mother, Eleanor Sanchez of Pasadena, CA; his siblings, John Sanchez of CA, Anthony Sanchez of SD; and Gerald Sanchez of CA; his daughters, Brienna Brown of Gulfport, Lori Rhoda of Gulfport, and Kelly Weeks of Long Beach; his son Eric Sanchez of CA; and his grandchildren, Brandon Jeffery, Dustin Jeffrey, Krystal Logan, Gage Weeks and Tate Weeks.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Biloxi, is in charge of the arrangements. An online guestbook may be signed at www.riemannfamily.com.
