Roy Bernard “Burnie” McKay, age 79, passed away on May 25, 2022 in Kiln, MS.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Gladys McKay; son, Jeffrey Bernard McKay; brother, Ellis McKay, Jr.; and brother in-law, Ernest Ladner.
He is survived by daughters, Shelley Cuevas of Kiln, Stephanie Shiyou (Carlos) of Kiln; grandchild Chad Ladner (Brittany), Kristen Saucier, Trenton Ladner (Adrienne), Donald Saucier, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Ava Ladner, Isaiah King, Elijah King, Kylee King, Truett Saucier; brother, Larry McKay (Beverly); sisters Karen McManus and Sandra Ladner; and numerous other relatives.
Roy worked as Superintendent for George Hopkins Construction for many years. Music was his gift and his passion. He played for the County Edition and St. Matthews Catholic Church. His favorite place on earth was “The Old Place” where he had many cherished memories. He loved to cook and his favorite meal to cook was red beans and rice. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years and enjoyed his time serving the country. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter.
The family wishes to thank the medical team the VA Hospital, Deaconess Hospice, and special caregiver Deidre Armstrong.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Rd. Pass Christian. Burial will follow at Evergreen Gardens Cemetery, Gulfport.
