Roy E. Herring, age 83 and a resident of Biloxi, died on Thursday, May 15, 2014, in Biloxi.
Mr. Herring was born in Gulfport to Gordon and Gertrude Herring, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Queenie, brothers, James, Gordon, Johnny and sister, Jerry.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Ehlers, his sons, Randy (Christina) Herring, Danny (Dee) Herring; grandchildren, Laurie (Harry) Hoffman, Jacob Herring, Justin (Ashley) Herring, Adam (Lauren) Herring, and Aja (Tommy) Elliott; great grandchildren, James (Sierra) Carr, Trevor Carr, Noah Hoffman, Sailor and Harper Herring, Marley and Lola Elliott, Aiden and Jude Herring, and Emily Toncrey.
Roy served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Mississippi Power in 1980. Roy was a lifelong fisherman, having won King Fisherman in both freshwater and saltwater divisions at the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bay Cove Memory Care in Biloxi and St. Joseph's Hospice.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at 5 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
