Roy Griffith, age 71, of Bay St. Louis, passed away April 28, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his father, Col. Roy Wesly Griffith, Sr. (USAF Retired); and his mother Mary Elizabeth Griffith.
Survivors include his daughter, Angel Marie Porter; brothers, Donald and sister in-law Barbara Griffith, and Bryon and sister-in-law Yvonne Griffith; great niece Tina and husband Russel Oakes; nephew Alex and wife Sherry Griffith; great niece Lexy; great nephew Brandon; nephew Christopher and wife Dominque Griffith; nephew Wes and wife Ashley Griffith, and great niece Alivia and great nephews Gabriel, Micah, and Ashton; nephew, Brad and wife Christina Griffith; great niece, Edelle and great nephew, Tristan.
Roy's true passion was fishing. He held numerous citations in nearly every freshwater species in Virginia where he lived prior to moving back to the Mississippi Gulf Coast after his father died in 2003. After returning to the coast, Roy quickly honed his skills in saltwater and became an avid speckled trout and redfish sportsman. His many other retirement hobbies included making costume jewelry, karaoke, and dance.
His loving spirit, amazing intellect, sense of humor, and abundant generosity will be forever treasured by his daughter, his two brothers, his nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, and countless friends. He will also hold a special place in the heart of the selfless medical and facility staff that worked tirelessly to bring joy and dignity to his final years.
The graveside service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery at Rotten Bayou.
