Ronald Storey

Ronald Storey passed away Saturday April 13, 2019, in Gulfport, Mississippi after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ronnie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 13, 1951, but grew up in Brandon, Mississippi. He loved sports and music from an early age playing baseball, football and drums in the band. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1969 then continued his education at the University of Southern Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1974 and a few years later his Master's degree.
He and his wife, Nancy, moved to Gulfport in 1979 where he worked for Job Corps. Later he became a teacher and principal with the Harrison County School District. His years spent before retirement were with the Pass Christian School District as a principal and in the administration offices in several capacities.
Ronnie loved animals, the outdoors, jogging, and being with his family. He ran in several coast marathons and participated in numerous 10K and 5K races.
He was especially proud of his Irish heritage and for many years flew the flag of Ireland every March in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Another day he looked forward to was July 4 because he loved to spend it with his brothers and their families at the Storey Reunion in Petal.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Alvis "Red" Storey and his mother, Rita Storey of Brandon. Survivors include Nancy Jennings Storey, his wife of 42 years, his daughter, Lindsey Storey Shelton (Bo) of Gulfport; two brothers, Richard Storey (Sandra) of Petal, Mississippi and John Storey (Cheryl) of Highland Lake, Alabama; two step grandchildren Patrick Shelton and Emma Shelton of Aliceville, Alabama, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of South Mississippi and Feed My Sheep.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 2:30pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, with a visitation for family and friends from 1:00pm until the service.
