LONG BEACH

Ronald Paul Slocum, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud Vietnam Veteran, passed away on February 28, 2025, at the age of 77 in Long Beach, Mississippi. Born on August 24, 1947, in Pineville, Louisiana, Ronald led a life filled with passion, dedication, and an unmistakable love for his family and community.

Ronald's career was marked by his long-standing service in the food industry, working at A&P and Sav-A-Center before retiring from Rouse's. His commitment to his work reflected his strong work ethic and desire to provide for his family. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where he found both fellowship and fulfillment within his community.

A proud soldier, Ronald served in the US Navy, achieving the rank of E-4 as a Production Clerk. His time stationed in San Francisco, California, during the Vietnam War earned him commendations including the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. This period of service defined his strong sense of duty and respect for his country.

Educationally, Ronald was a graduate of Alcee Fortier High School, which laid the foundation for his lifelong learning and personal development. He was an avid enthusiast of classic cars, holding numerous awards for his prized 1969 Nova, and enjoyed spending time on the golf course. Each year, you could find him enjoying the exhilarating atmosphere of cruising' the coast, where his passion for classic automobiles came alive.

Ronald's greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia Slocum, their daughter Karen (Robert) Andersen, and son Brian (Amanda) Slocum. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren Jacob (Mary) Holliman, William (Raegan) Holliman, Braxston Blackwell, Maekayla, Nathan, and Dalton, as well as his treasured great-grandchildren, AB and Rivers and five brothers and one sister.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles Slocum, mother Angeline Labourde, brothers Gary Slocum and John Slocum, and sister Charlene Osborne. These family ties grounded Ronald and shaped his character throughout the years.

Visitation services will be held on March 9, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Long Beach, Mississippi. Following the visitation, a prayer service will commence at 3:00 PM until 3:30 PM at the same location. Burial will take place on March 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Long Beach City Cemetery.

Ronald Paul Slocum will be remembered as a devoted family man, a proud veteran, and a friend to many. His warmth and charm, coupled with his stories of family and experiences, will be greatly missed. His spirit will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
