Ronald Wayne Coolman, age 64, passed away on February 16, 2019 in his home in Biloxi, MS.
Ron was born in Monroe, LA and grew up in Montgomery, La. where he graduated from Montgomery High School. Following graduation, he worked with Milchem, Inc. for several years before deciding on a career in construction. He also became the preacher of an Assembly of God church in Winnfield, LA for several years. He eventually moved to Hammond, LA in 1990 , where he lived for about 15 years. While there, he worked as a building inspector and did some work with the Marshal's office. Ron finally planted his roots and retired in Biloxi, MS in 2010.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Nettles Coolman and John Henry Coolman; his biological father, Eli Daise Thibodeaux; and his grandson, Shawn Quinn.
He is survived by his three daughters: Monica Quinn (Lloyd), Amanda Allgood (Jeff), and Kelci Coolman; his grandchildren: Kyle Quinn (Katlyn), Makayla Johnson, Laura Quinn, Bryce Allgood, and Brody Coolman; his great-grandchildren: Kathan Quinn and Korbin Quinn; his sister, Wanda Guynes (Sam) of Montana and brother, Tim Coolman (Karen) of Montgomery, LA.
Ron comes from a long line of musicians and was very proud of his musical background. His maternal grandfather was the late Bill Nettles, who wrote and recorded many songs throughout his life. His grandfather's band, the Dixie Blue Boys, included Ron's late mother, Lois Nettles Coolman (nicknamed the Dixie Sweetheart) and his late biological father, Eli Daise Thibodeaux (also known as Pal "Hardy" Thibodeaux). Ron inherited his family's musical talents and learned to play guitar from a very young age. He wrote songs and played in a few bands when he was younger. The majority of his music was played in the church setting. In his later years, Ron lived a pretty quiet life, spending time with his friends and family.
A gathering for friends and family will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019, from 10:00am to Noon at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS.
