Ronald Beaver

d. September 30, 2018

Mr. Beaver, age 77, a long-time resident of Gulfport MS, passed away on the 30th of September 2018   surrounded by his loving family. During Ron's life he served with honor in the Marine Corp, US Navy (retired), Masons, Scottish Rite, and in his church.

Growing up in Turtle Town TN, he learned the love of guns and the value of hard work. As a teenager, he enlisted in the Marines and was trained as part of an elite underwater demolition team (aka S.E.A.Ls). His advanced training in weapons enabled him to transition to the US Navy as a Seabee, where he joined the US Navy's Sharp Shooting Team (ranked #2 in the Navy).  While serving in the Navy, he also trained as a Seabee Heavy Equipment Operator and Instructor. During Operation DEEP FREEZE, he endured extreme conditions in the frozen continent of Antarctica to build and expand the United States Scientific Base, as well as the stand-up of a nuclear power plant and an early warning missile system. Then, during the peak of the Vietnam conflict, he deployed to DaNang, Republic of Vietnam to construct airfields and logistic complexes. As a builder-fighter, he contributed greatly to improving the lives of the South Vietnamese people. He also participated in the US Navy's largest peacetime mission, the standup of forward operating base in Diego Garcia, an atoll in the Indian Ocean. His job was to build the roadways and runways. This site later became a critical location for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Operation NEW DAWN. Toward the end of his naval career, he was selected for special assignment as a Seabee Training Instructor. He was able to pass along his expert knowledge in special tactics and construction. as an instructor. He trained the Navy's Mobile Construction Battalion in preparation for military operations in Beirut and Lebanon while assigned to the US Naval Construction Battalion in Gulfport Ms.

Ron's love to serve his nation led him to the Masons. He became a Shriner with the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. He loved to help spread goodwill and fellowship across the Gulf Coast where he raised money for 22 Children's Hospitals across the country. He loved riding his Gold Wing motorcycle in parades and supporting his brethren. As a result, children across the country had access to expert medical care at no-charge.

He was an active and loyal member of Orange Grove Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS.

Ron was wonderful and loving father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be remembered and missed was loved by his large family and friends.
