Romar Joseph ""RJ"" ""Buddy"" Cuevas, Jr., 69, lifelong resident of Gulfport, MS ended his earthly journey Tuesday, May 3, 2011.
He was born November 18, 1941. He was owner and operator of Orange Grove Refrigeration for many years.
Buddy loved playing the guitar, fishing, and cooking with friends and family. He was an inspiration to his grandchildren.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Romar Cuevas, Sr. and Lugenia Netto; brothers, Cortez and Lonnis (Francis) Ladner; in laws, Wilma and Winfred Hurst, Leroy Cook, and Leroy Hood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elizabeth ""Libby"" Cuevas; daughters, Yvette Cuevas, Denise Stringfellow (Phillip), and Monica Bailey (James); grandchildren, Jimmy Mathews (Jamie), Emily Stringfellow, Nick Mathews, and Nolan Stringfellow; great granddaughter, Lily Stringfellow; future great granddaughter, Joylynn Mathews; sisters, Shirley Hickman (Bill), Ramona Hood, and Beverly Young (David); brother, Ronnie Cuevas (Patti); in laws, Dorothy Ladner, Thelma Cook, Nancy Yentzen (Joe), Brenda Barrios (Raymond), Terry Hurst (Candy); numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his church family.
The visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 12 noon, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Depew Road, Gulfport.
Burial will follow at the R.J. Cuevas Family Cemetery.
