Roman "Bob" Strickland

Mr. Roman Lewis ""Bob"" Strickland, age 92, resident of Woolmarket, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011.
Mr. Strickland was born in Oxford, PA to Clyde E. and Ethel Barber Strickland. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and has been a resident of the Coast since 1945. He retired from the Gulfport VA after 33 years. He was an avid Saints fan, NASCAR fan, and hunter. He harvested his first and last turkey at the age of 87. He will be remembered most for his gentle, loving spirit.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma McQueen Strickland; his parents; daughter, Bonnie Strickland; sons, Carl and Shelby Strickland; and great grandson, Hayden Husley.
He is survived by his children, William ""Butch"" Strickland (Annie) of Dallas, TX, Jo Ann West of Gulfport, Sandra D'Angelo of Woolmarket, Clyde Strickland (Pam) of Gulfport, and Abby Brauchle (John) of Biloxi, and Beverly Myers (Thomas) of Cleveland, TN; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, at 11 a.m., where friends may visit one hour prior to services.
Burial will follow at Coalville Cemetery.
