Roland "Rocky" Stone

Roland “Rocky” Joseph Stone, age 89, and a resident of Stuart, Florida, passed away on October 30, 2020 in Stuart.

Mr. Stone was a native of Hudson, New York.  He lived in Gulfport, Mississippi from 1971 until 1997. He then moved to Stuart, Florida to be near his daughter Sharon Stone and his granddaughters Jessica and Rachel Elliott.

Mr. Stone retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Air Force in 1971. He was an electronic warfare officer(navigator) on B-52 bombers.

Rocky, as he was known by all his friends was active his entire life. He loved to snow ski, with his last trip on his 80th birthday. Once he retired, he played golf almost daily and went white water rafting in his 60s.  “Pa”, as he was called by his grandchildren will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or any other military affiliation.

Rocky was preceded in death by his father, William Stone; his mother, Eleanor Stone; and his brother, Vincent Stone.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Gayheart (husband, Mark), Teri Waters (husband, Kenny) and Sharon Stone; his grandchildren, Blake Waters (wife, Morgan), Caroline Willard (husband, Robert), Grant Waters, Jessica Elliott, and Rachel Elliott; his sibling, Eleanor Isenhart (husband, Worth); his sister-in-law, Patty Stone; as well as various nieces, nephews and other family members.

Private Family Services will be held and Rocky will be laid to rest at Biloxi National Cemetery.
