Roger J. Scheeler, age 94 and a resident of Washington, D.C., died on Sunday, March 23, 2008 in Washington.
Mr. Scheeler retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service during which time he served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He then retired from the Gulfport VA Medical Center after 15 years of service. He was also a registered Boy Scout for 54 years.
He had been a resident of Woolmarket for 36 years. He was a charter member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Woolmarket and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3 and 4 Degree.
Mr. Scheeler was preceded in death by his parents, William & Regina Pucheu Scheeler; his wife, Nanell Denison Scheeler; his brother, William Scheeler and a grandson, Roger A. Scheeler.
He is survived by his daughters, Regina Chalupnik of Bush, LA and Mary Jo Scheeler of Biloxi; his son, Roger C. Scheeler of Vancleave; his sister, Lorena Hussey of Gulfport; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 11:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8343 Woolmarket Road, Biloxi, MS 39532.
