G. Roderick "Rod" Leslie, age 78, of Gulfport, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018.
Mr. Leslie was born to Wilmer M. and Mabel Stevens Leslie in Mobile, AL on March 11, 1940. He graduated from McGill High School and attended Springhill College and Auburn University.
Rod and Ann moved their family to the Gulf Coast in the 1970's to open a floor covering business. He continued with that until the 1980's, when he went into the oil and gas business until retirement.
Rod was active in the community, where he ran for political office and coached youth sports. He loved racing motorcycles and boats, and playing golf. Rod was a wonderful, kind, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rod is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ann Gwin Leslie; children, Robin Leslie Weaver, Roderick Leslie, Jr., and Todd Stevens Leslie (Jacci); siblings, Bill Leslie (Mary), Lorian Brownlee (Jerry), Stevens Leslie (Romona), Michael Leslie (Jennifer); grandchildren, Jacob R. Pucheu, Ryan Leslie, and Olivia Leslie; and a large extended family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018, at St. James Catholic Church, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff at Heaven's Harbor for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research at www.alz.org .
