Mr. Rocky William Byrd, age 56, resident of Sumrall, died on Saturday, July 28, 2007, in Gulfport.
A longtime resident of Harrison County, Mr. Byrd served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and was a devoted family man. He enjoyed football and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He attended St. John Catholic Church in Gulfport.
He is preceded in death by father, Travis Byrd; brother, Ira Byrd; nephew, Clint Byrd; and stepson, Casey Tymes.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Byrd of Sumrall; mother, Challie Byrd of Wiggins; son, Roy James Byrd of Baton Rouge; two stepdaughters, Deanna Favre of Sumrall and Christie Ladner of Hattiesburg; siblings, James Byrd of Long Beach, Travis Byrd of Gulfport, Gilda Davis of Gulfport, Bobbie Blackwell of Long Beach, and Kathy Culpepper of Gulfport; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007, at the RIEMANN FAMILY'S Gulf Coast Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, where friends may call from 6-10 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow at Standard Sandhill Cemetery in Hancock County.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 3117 West 4th St. Hattiesburg, MS 39401.
