Robert J. “Bobby” Emry, age 62, passed away peacefully into his mother’s arms on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022.
Born in Kokomo, IN, he grew up in Jupiter, Fl and Greenfield, IN, where he enjoyed playing sports. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Navy. He devoted 24 years of his life, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He began his career as a submariner on the USS Lapoon and ended in Pensacola, FL, as a Master Training Specialist for 18 east coast submarines, composing over 30 Navy advancement exams for 1600 personnel.
After retiring he began a new chapter working with navsciatts as a learning standards officer and IDC Director where he impacted many lives here and abroad. He is currently a member of the Diamondhead V.F.W. 2880.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Mary M. Emry; and his wife, Sandra J. Emry. He is survived by his father, J. Robert “Bob” Emry; his fiancé, Debbie Garrett; his sister, Jane Aguda, and his Brother-in-law, Cat Agoda.
Bobby had a love for life, a smile for everyone, and CARS! Speed was his middle name and customizing was the game. Driving his car on the speedway in New Orleans and Talladega was the best. Sports were his other passion with Georgia Bulldogs leading the way. Black and red only viable colors. Lastly the costumes, Batman, Thor, Pirates and Jason.
A celebration of life will be held at Diamondhead Country Club Ballroom, Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
With tires well-worn and gauge on empty: He skidded across the finish line to the checkered flag of Love from family and friends!
