Robert "Bob" Lorimer

July 4, 1952 — August 21, 2021

McCall, Idaho

Robert “Bob” Gill Lorimer passed away peacefully on August 21, 2021, in Salt Lake City, UT.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Walker and Sara Marie (Post) Lorimer; and Jack and Donna Hershberger.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vicki A. Lorimer of McCall, ID; his three children and spouses, Sara (Aaron) Jones of McCall, ID, Robert “Bobby” (Adrienne) Lorimer, II, of Jonesboro, AR, and Katherine “Katie” (Colby) Slade of Idaho Falls, ID; his brother, Ken Hershberger of Long Beach, MS; and his many nieces and nephews. His pride and joy were his ten grandchildren, Kalisa, Brynlee, Claire, Lucas, Jane, Clark, Vivian, Grant, Elliana, and Robert Davis. Known as “Grumps”, “Gumps”, “Umps”, and “Bob”, he loved each of his grandchildren very much.

Bob was born in Denver, CO, on July 4, 1952, and lived in Englewood, CO, until his early teen years. He had fond memories of his Italian family and their history in Salida, CO, especially his cousin, Leonard Post, whom Bob loved dearly. When Bob lost his mother at the age of 12, he was welcomed into the home of Jack and Donna Hershberger. He gained a brother when he became part of the Hershberger family, his best friend since third grade, Ken Hershberger. The Hershberger family relocated to Long Beach, MS, where Bob graduated high school. He went on to work for the Long Beach Police Department for approximately 8 years, and married Vicki Ann Meece.

After receiving his master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Bob began his 35 year career with State Farm Insurance. He had the opportunity to live and work in many areas, including Long Beach, MS; Hattiesburg, MS, Slidell, LA, Lafayette, LA, and Conway, AR. He developed many meaningful life-long friendships in each of these areas.  After living in Conway, AR, for 22 years, Bob and Vicki relocated to McCall, ID, in 2018.

Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He spent his years serving others as a branch president, young men’s president, scoutmaster, stake presidency leader, stake and local young men’s leader, and various other responsibilities. He had a special place in his heart for young men and has helped and guided many along life’s challenges. He helped many to find the Savior and embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

He was very involved in Scouting while living in Arkansas and received multiple recognitions, including the distinguished service Silver Beaver Award. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who serve others and their community through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. It is given to those who do not seek it. Those who know Bob know that he exemplified the spirit of this recognition.

Bob enjoyed many hobbies, including his favorite of fly fishing. Even when his health would not allow fishing, he continued to tie flies and share them with his family and friends.

Bob had an innate ability to connect with others and perceive their needs and concerns. Those who had the privilege of knowing Bob felt loved and uplifted by him.  He will be missed by his family and all those he has touched throughout his life.
