Roberta """"Bobbie"""" N. Varvel, age 80 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Saturday, July 3, 2010, in Gulfport.
Bobbie was a resident of Gulfport since 1982 and was employed for many years with the Hancock County Juvenile Justice System. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Varvel was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip & Alice McNulty Seat and her husband, Jerry J. Varvel, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele Redhawk of Gulfport; her son, Jerry J. (Roberta L.) Varvel, Jr. of Long Beach; her sister, Donna Lillis of Fairview Heights, IL; her grandchildren, David Varvel, Susan Garziano, Andrew Varvel, Elizabeth Varvel, and Anita Taylor and her great grandchildren, Richard Anthony Garziano and Hannah Taylor.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
