Robert Wilson

Robert G. Wilson, age 73, of the Necaise Community, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Wilson had been a long-time resident of Necaise. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he served in the National Guard. Mr. Wilson started in the oil fields in 1956 as a rough neck. He later went into welding in 1965. He worked for eight years before he established Wilson's Welding Service in 1973 and incorporated in 1993. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family and friends. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a hard working and well respected person. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Wilson; brothers, Kenneth and Phillip """"Buzzy"""" Wilson; and nephew, Jonathan Wilson.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lola D. Wilson; children, Terry A. Wilson (Brenda), Verble R. Wilson (Lisa), Melissa G. Kennedy (Dewayne), Barbara A. Stewart (Kevin), Steven G. Wilson (Amanda), and Clark P. Wilson (Bridget); 16 grandchildren, Tony A. Wilson (Suzanne), Tiffany A. Wilson, Shianne and Emily Wilson, Gabrielle, Austin and Breanna Kennedy, Justin, Keller and Sephia Stewart, Steve, Zachery and Mason Wilson, Blake Peterson, and Hunter and Lakyn Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Gentry Wilson and Abby Wilson Adcox; brothers, Ottice Wilson (Glorine), Billy J. Wilson (Vallerie) and Frank Wilson (Claudia); sisters, Bertha Redmond (Leland), Judy Cuevas (Preston) and Myra Wilson; sister-in-law, Charlotte Wilson Edwards; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the family residence at 5371 Jordan Road in the Necaise Community. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the residence, followed by the graveside service (in the Wilson Family Cemetery) on the farm.
