Mr. Robert D. """"Father"""" Threlkel, age 77, resident of Long Beach, MS died on Saturday, October 27, 2007, in Long Beach.
Mr. Threlkel served in the U.S. Air Force where he retired as a Staff Sergeant after 21 years. After retiring from the military, he became a Tug Boat Master. He retired after piloting the Mississippi River for twenty years. He enjoyed his retirement, and will be remembered for his dedication to his work and punctuality.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Alta Threlkel; and a brother, Ronald J. Threlkel.
He is survived by his children, Robert D. Threlkel, Jr. of Stone County, Sharon Adams Gray of Pass Christian, Roy D. Threlkel, and Marvin M. Threlkel of Gulfport; ex-wife Frankie Threlkel of Pass Christian; sister, Ardyce Griffis of Ogden, UT; bother, Dorral Threlkel of Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Dylan and Gage Threlkel, Zack and Frankie Adams, Allison and Brent Lemons, and Jamie Threlkel; one expected great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews, other family, and friends.
The family prefers memorials to St. Jude Cancer Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, at 5:00 p.m. with full military honors rendered by the USAF. Friends may visit two hours prior to services.
