Robert Theron Smith, Jr., age 73 of Gulfport, MS, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Smith, Sr. and Neva Smith of Taneyville, MO.
He is survived by his daughter, Jody Smith(Charles), of Gulfport, MS; his brother, Joseph Smith "Joe" of Taneyville, MO; grandchildren, Jadyn Griffin and Ethan Smith of Gulfport, MS; his nieces and nephews, Tricia, Sant, Matt, Mark, and Mandy as well as many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
As a native of Taneyville, MO, Bob graduated from Forsyth High School in 1965. He was later drafted into the Marine Corps at 18 years old and bravely served his country during the Vietnam War where he received multiple honors. He has been happily retired for the past 20 years.
Bob was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved his family and friends. Bob was an active pool player and played on multiple pool leagues over the past four decades. He loved watching football, walking his dog, Sandy, and taking long drives along the beautiful Gulf Coast. Bob was an amazing human being. He always went out of his way to help others and will be remembered for his kindness. He will be greatly missed by so many.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date, to be determined. The family would like to send their sincere thanks to the staff at Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Hospice for the great care and compassion given to Mr. Bob and his family.
